Stair chair
This assignment was to design and produce a functional prototype. Our group chose to try and combine two household items into one, in a true "compact living" spirit! We chose to combine a chair with a ladder in order to reach the microwave on top of the fridge in our student dorm.
The concept and mechanics were drawn, and a simple wooden prototype was made to evaluate the ergonomics and stability of the ladder-function.
The final prototype was designed in CAD and the files were sent to be laser cut. The assembly consisted of linear rails and carriages, as well as a lever with rollers.
Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to continue the development of this project, but I have loads of ideas on how to improve the design.
